Smart Controls assist in ensuring maximum energy efficiency as you can ensure that you’re not heating an empty home and that you only heat the space that you need when you need to.

Multizone Heating a system on the market with Hive, offers this, as do Tado. You would have two Smart Thermostats (minimum) and be able to control the temperature in specific areas. So, you would be able to heat downstairs during the day and reduce the heating in your bedrooms upstairs if they were not in use.

Smart TVR ‘s (Thermostatic Radiator Valves) also assist in reducing your energy consumption as they fit onto each radiator and allow you to set the temperature individually on each radiator or by a grouping radiators, e.g. upstairs radiators may be set to a lower temperature than downstairs radiators.

This reduces your energy consumption, lowers your carbon footprint and reduces your energy bill.

What is a Smart Thermostat?

Smart Thermostat’s are fitted with the majority of our upgrades on gas condensing (combi) boilers.

(Your surveyor will confirm on the day whether your home will receive one).

At present there is not a Smart Thermostat available on the market for air or ground source heat pumps.

Your Smart Thermostat allows you to set the temperature of your home. It is similar into your old thermostat in that are usually wall mounted, but it has a lot more functionality, is very user friendly and has a compact modern appearance.

This intelligent system works by communicating your heating preferences to your boiler. So, you set your desired temperature and your boiler will operate according to your instructions automatically.

Your Smart Thermostat connects to your Heating System via the Wi-Fi in your home. Our Engineers will ensure you have this manually programmed when they fit your new heating system.

What are the benefits of a Smart Thermostat?

  1. You can reduce your Energy Consumption, so a lower energy bill saving you money.
  2. You can reduce your carbon emissions.
  3. It is highly customisable and user friendly so you can ensure you set it to adapt to your lifestyle.
  4. You can set schedules, so each day can be different according to your needs. For example, there is no point having your heating on all day if you are at work. You are then wasting energy and money on heating an empty home. You can set your schedule for the heating to come on for when you wake up and then again before you come home from work for maximum efficiency.
  5. You can set a holiday mode schedule so when you are away, you don’t heat an empty home. You can simply ensure the Frost Protection is active, so your central heating system is protected.
  6. You can set your device manually from your central device, or from the convenience of your mobile device, or smart accessories – Alexa, Echo etc.
  7. You can monitor your usage and temperature via your Smart Control app, this will allow you to make changes if needed. By reducing your heating by just 1C over a year this can save you £100*
